Devlog: InstaNote

InstaNote is a quick capture app. Tap the widget, the keyboard is already up, type, send. It goes straight to my own email.

That’s the whole product. Google OAuth for sign-in, a slim widget that launches directly into a text input, and a share target so other apps can hand off links, photos, or basically anything, and it routes to my inbox without stopping to show me UI.

Why the destination is email

The standard path to writing something down is unlock, find the app, wait for it to load, tap new note, start typing. By step three the thought is frequently gone. Widget to keyboard is one step. That number is the entire point of the app.

Sending it to my own email instead of storing it locally is the other half. My inbox is already where things get processed, so there’s no second place to remember to check and no export sitting in my future. There is no real database here. A note lives long enough to get sent, and the permanent copy ends up in a system I already use and already search.

Does it work

Yes, and that’s rarer than it sounds. This is the case where what I wanted is exactly what I got: fast note entry, no fluff, nothing else. I use it every day to send myself notes.
